How To Set Up a Meeting
With Hard-To-Reach C-level Execs

Let’s say you to want to arrange a personal meeting with the CEO, CIO, or other top C-level exec at a hot-prospect company.

Well, sending them an email to ask for a meeting will never work. Forget it.

And an “allow me to introduce myself” letter will also get you nowhere.

But don’t give up. Here’s a strategy you can use
that often gets results.

So . . . instead of sending your message in a seen-it-all-before format, send the C-level exec a creative dimensional (3D) package that’s just about guaranteed to get opened.

NOTE: In direct response lingo, a dimensional, or 3D package, refers to a deliverable that arrives in a non-traditional format. I’m talking about a box, a case, a tube, or other attention-getting format. The idea? Stand out from the crowd!

IMPORTANT: Make sure that when your package does get opened, and I bet it will, the prospect will find a compelling, motivating message inside that gets you that important meeting.

A quick case study worth checking out.
American President Lines. (APL)

A while ago, American President Lines came to me with an interesting problem.

They wanted to set up in-person sales presentations with top execs at a small number of companies: Companies that could use APL to ship their perishable cargoes all over the world.

APL wanted to prove that they were experts at transporting cargoes like fresh fruits, produce, seafood, poultry, flowers, etc.
 
How did I get APL’s foot in the door at companies who were fanatical about maintaining product freshness?
 
My answer was to send each executive a hand-delivered, beautiful, fresh, exotic orchid in a lovely glass vase bearing the APL logo.

The cover of the accompanying note said:

“When it has to arrive in perfect condition . . .”

Inside I wrote a tasteful note asking for a personal meeting. It was low key but explained the many benefits of shipping with APL.

Hey, the logistics of getting fresh orchids to everyone was daunting, but the campaign results were fabulous!

If you have a very small number of people to contact, you can spend a chunk of money, add a new dimension to your package (literally!), and dramatically increase your response rates.
